Josh Hill (22), son of Dave and Gini Hill, was recently diagnosed with Composite Hemangioendothelioma, a very rare form of blood vessel cancer. The cancer formed around his ankle, and slowly worked its’ way up his leg creating a large amount of small tumors on his bones. The only possible cure to rid of the cancer was amputation. On Friday, December 6, Josh had his left leg amputated mid-femur.

Josh has always been consumed by sports and fitness. In high school, he broke swimming records at CHS and participated in cross-country and track. He went on to swim at Western Illinois University while pursuing his degree in Fire Science. He graduated with his bachelors degree in May and decided to hit the work force in a different field, all the while staying active and lifting weights every day.

While most people who have a testimony like this would sit back and let it defeat them, Josh’s mentality has never changed. He is determined to make the most of the situation by creating his own businesses, speaking, biking across the country in attempt to raise money for those who need prosthetics and can’t afford them, and motivating every person he comes in contact with. His heart has always been focused on helping others, and that is exactly what he is going to do.
