Our dear friend and colleague Kayla, recently and very suddenly, lost her mother and best friend Jennifer. Kayla has no siblings and she and her grandmother Harriet are struggling to raise the funds to cover Jennifer's final expenses and would like to plan a "Celebration of Life" after the recent ban on gatherings due to the Corona virus are lifted but they need our help!
Jennifer was just 46y, and was the former owner of "Little Feet, Big Heart Rescue" and beside Kayla, left behind 6 "fur-babies." Kayla has told me that dogs were Jennifer's world, but she also loved pampering herself by having her hair and nails done and always "being beautiful" and everyone remembers her as just that, "a beautiful person." Unfortunately Jennifer recently fell on hard times and struggled with financial issues and with profound depression and felt that she could no longer fight her demons.
As Kayla's colleagues, working daily with people who battle mental illness every day, we know all to well the challenges and unrelenting torment people suffer trying to pull themselves from under the weight of depression. Kayla works tirelessly caring for children, adolescents, young and older adults battling anxiety and depression and gives 100% of herself all the time. She often works back to back 16 hour shifts caring for her patients, spending her own money to have movie and popcorn nights for the kids or ice cream sundae nights to try to brighten their days. Now, Kayla and her grandma Harriet need all of us to come together and help them provide for Jennifer's final expenses, so please, let's do whatever we can to help our friend and colleague in her time of need.
