I'm sad that this is not the first time Melanie has battled the C-word. Cancer is an ugly word that most people don't want to use. However, let's call it what it is. A disease so awful its existence should be wiped out completely. The first time she fought cancer, it took hold of her thyroid. She beat it. Twice. As some of you may know, Melanie had discovered she had cancer of her kidney which resulted in kidney removal surgery last month. While she has done well going through surgery, she struggles to recover physically. Her pain management is an unending road with many twists and turns. After her first Go Fund, Me page helped her raise donations to fund her several trips to Emory in Atlanta, she has discovered another obstacle to her recovery. Melanie has Ewings Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer in bones or the soft tissue around the bones. However, in Melanie's case, it surrounds the soft tissue of her kidney. While the inflicted kidney has been removed, Melanie will be undergoing chemotherapy starting in April.
Due to all the medications and surgical recoveries of trying to heal, Melanie cannot drive herself for the long trips to Emory in Atlanta. A round trip to and from Emory takes up exactly half a gas tank. In addition, Melanie has to fill her car up sometimes twice a week due to the multiple appointments with various doctors in the Atlanta area. So now we are adding chemotherapy to her extreme lists of weekly and monthly obligations. For her chemo, she'll spend a whole day with Emory getting medications for round one of chemo go back the next day for a half-day of round two of chemo. Then, two weeks later, she'll return to be admitted for five days to receive another set of chemotherapy. Melanie has already been informed of the potential hair loss and sickness she"ll be experiencing as she starts chemo. At 28 years old, this is not something that Melanie should have to deal with. However, Melanie has always been the strongest, and she has never allowed anything to get the best of her.
We wanted to ask if any of Melanie's friends and family, or anyone with a big heart, would be willing to donate at least $5 to help fund Melanie's multiple trips to Emory for her chemotherapy treatments. Any help that Melanie could receive would be so helpful, and we'd forever be grateful for the support. We understand that everyone is struggling in these trying times, but we appreciate any donations to help us get Melanie to Emory for her chemo. Thank you all so much for all the love and support. God Bless!
P.S. If you're not able to donate $5, please remember that absolutely anything helps. Please share this with your family and friends, and even feel free to share it with a stranger. We hope for as many people as possible to view this. If you don't want to donate through Go Fund Me, please use the information below to donate on Cash App and Venmo.
