Beschermde donatie

Palmer Memorial Institute (PMI) was a nationally known African American boarding school, founded in 1902 and closed in 1971.

Located in Sedalia, North Carolina outside Greensboro, it was founded by Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown with the help of New England philantrophists eager to improve the education of  African American students at the turn of the century.

Alice Freeman Palmer, President of Wellsley College, was Dr. Brown's prime benefactor.  PMI was considered the top African American boarding school of its day and its graduates excelled to great heights in their careers.

This documentary will tell the PMI story, with a focus on its iconic founder, Dr. Charlotte Hawkins Brown as well as the alumni who attended the school.

Join us in celebrating and supporting the completion of this important and historic documentation of our culture and community.

All contribututors will be featured in the film's credits.

Thank you.

Dr. Eric Winston, Former President of the Palmer Memorial Institute Alumni Association.
