A little update from us ❤️
When Adem first set up his GoFundMe after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, we honestly had no idea what the future was going to look like.
At the time, we hoped that after surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, he would eventually be able to get back to some sort of normality and return to work.
Sadly, we've now had to accept that things aren't going to work out quite as we'd hoped.
Following an assessment by Occupational Health, it has now been agreed that Adem won't be returning to work.
That has been incredibly difficult for him to come to terms with. Work was such a big part of his life, and having to accept that he may never be able to return has been another huge adjustment on top of everything we've faced since his diagnosis.
Adem has also reached a point where he is beginning to accept his prognosis. As heartbreaking as that is for all of us, his outlook now is very much about making the most of the time he has when he is feeling well.
He doesn't want to spend that time worrying about money or what we can and can't afford. He wants to spend it with his children and grandchildren — having days out, going away for the occasional weekend, seeing places, laughing together and, most importantly, making memories with the people he loves. ❤️
So the money raised will help us with our everyday living costs and household bills, but it will also allow us to do some of those things together as a family.
We've tried to manage financially and haven't wanted to keep asking people for help. We've shared Adem’s GoFundMe a few times over the last few months, but we haven't wanted to constantly put it in front of people.
The reality is that now that Adem won't be returning to work, our financial circumstances have changed, and we have to think about our future differently.
So, although it's incredibly difficult for us to ask, we've decided to share his GoFundMe again.
We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who donated when Adem was first diagnosed, shared his page, sent messages, checked in on us or simply thought of us. Every single bit of support has meant more than we can put into words. ❤️
If you're able to donate, no matter how small, it would genuinely help us. If you can't, please don't feel bad at all — simply sharing the page or leaving Adem a message means just as much.
We don't know exactly what the future holds, but while Adem is feeling well, we want to make the most of it. We want to fill the time with family, laughter, experiences and memories that we'll treasure forever.
Thank you for continuing to support us through what has been the hardest chapter of our lives.
Adem Ahmet
