Karachi (Pakistan) has been devastated by the recent monsoon rains and we (Umer Farooqui and I) are raising funds to support those who have been impacted heavily. Please donate what you can and help share the word. Thank you to all those who have been contributing and doing their part. It matters!
Here is a post from Umer's social media account that outlines the experience of one of the individuals who suffered material damage due to the flooding in Karachi.
"I met someone yesterday who had lost his home to rain: furniture destroyed, kitchen in water. They were practically swimming in water in their own homes.
350mm of rain in Karachi (most since 1931).
Most of us are blessed with a UPS/generator and a concrete roof that protects us from the rain. We have the privilege of sharing Instagram stories because we can stay home, work from home, and enjoy food on our balconies/compounds.
I am collecting contributions to help people (especially in katchi abaadis in Karachi) to at least rebuild their roof and recover basic losses (kitchen utensils).
If you know anyone who is facing a similar situation, please go and help them. Collect money from your network and help them. If you don't know anyone, then you can contribute here.
Proud of my network that has always supported me in uplifting society. Contribute whatever you can, doesn't matter the amount. At least go out and see who is affected and help them yourself. Let's uplift society and rescue Karachi together."
