Hi. I am Pam. I currently hold a Intermediate Fire Fighter Certification, Basic Fire Investigator Certification,  Intermediate Fire Inspectors Certification and Fire Instructor Certification with the state of Texas  since 2005. I have been working in the fire service in every aspect, from firefighting, ems, fire prevention, education and fire inspections and investigations. I am looking to further my career as a Criminal Arson  Investigator which requires me to go through the Police Academy to obtain my TCOLE license as a Peace Officer.  Once I obtain my Peace Officer license, I can assist in police work and arson investigations.   I had requested support from my current employer, a municipality in Texas, for financial assistance with funding my enrollment in the Police Academy, and unfortunately was recently advised that my request was denied due to budget cuts. 

School enrollment for this upcoming academy ends in two weeks, thus not giving me the necessary time to raise or save the funds for enrollment to this years academy. I have never requested assistance for any of my previous training or certification accomplishments, but because I am so very determined to accomplish this and I do not wish to delay my education another year I am putting  my pride aside to ask for help.   
This by no means will be easy. I will be working a full time 8 to 5 work week with my current employer as a fire inspector and fire investigator, and attending  the night academy every night after work five nights a week for 4.5 hours, and all day on various Saturdays for ten months.  Mentally and physically I am prepared for this challenge, as failure is not an option.  Im confident in my ability to accomplish this as I completed a nine month fire academy under the same pretenses. I acknowledge the commitment, dedication, and perseverance that it requires to achieve this and welcome this challenge. In light of today’s times I truly wish to put peace back into the profession of a peace officer. I am a public servant by heart as already proven by my current career and academic standing and only wish to enrich my knowledge to be of more service.
 The total cost for the academy is $3,100.00 (School tuition $1,800.00; Gear & books $800.00; Pre testing psych eval, drug testing and physical $500.00) I have completed the required interview to enroll in the academy,  and have been accepted. All that remains is paying the funds and getting  my butt ready to roll through the next ten months of hard core peace officer training.
