Michelic Castro is a loving mother of three recently diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis (swelling in a section of the spinal cord). While on a family trip to Virginia Beach for the weekend, Michelic woke up to find that she was completely paralyzed and could not move any of her limbs despite previously not exhibiting any symptoms. The ambulance was called to transport Michelic to the hospital which was only the beginning of her expenses. Upon arrival to the hospital, Michelic was no longer able to speak or breathe on her own forcing the doctors to intubate. It took over 48 hours for doctors to finally diagnose her. The rest of her family was forced to return home with the exception of her husband, Mario Guerrero,  who has remained at her bedside in Virginia not being able to work or make it home to their three children in New York. The couple is now stuck in Virginia currently running out of their survival funds, with nowhere for her husband to stay and still having to provide for their children back home. This hardworking and devoted family is struggling to make ends meet while having their mother in the hospital with no health insurance to fall back on for treatment including rehabilitation services that will be needed further down the line. Michelic Castro es una amorosa madre de tres hijos recientemente diagnostica con mielitis transversa (hinchazón en una sección de la médula espinal). Durante un viaje familiar a Virginia Beach por el fin de semana, Michelic se despertó y descubrió que estaba completamente paralizada y no podía mover ninguna de sus extremidades a pesar de que anteriormente no mostraba ningún síntoma ni mal estar. Se llamó a la ambulancia para transportar a Michelic al hospital, que fue el comienzo de sus gastos. Al llegar al hospital, Michelic ya no podía hablar ni respirar por sí misma, lo que obligó a los médicos a intubar. Los médicos tardaron más de 48 horas en diagnosticarla finalmente. Esta familia dedicada y trabajadora está luchando para cubrir todos sus gastos, mientras tiene a su madre en el hospital sin seguro médico al que recurrir para recibir tratamiento, incluidos los servicios de rehabilitación que se necesitarán más adelante.
