Help Mia Walk Again – Our Sweet Rottweiler Needs Surgery

My name is Kai, and I’m the proud dad of Mia, our sweet and loving Rottweiler. From the moment I saw her, I knew she would change my life. I never imagined I could love someone this much. Mia is only a year and a half old, but she’s already been through so much.

Earlier this year, just days after her first birthday, Mia tore the ligament in her knee (ACL). We were devastated. She’s a big, energetic pup, and hearing she needed surgery was overwhelming. But we didn’t hesitate – we did everything we could, even stretching ourselves financially, to get her the best care possible. Between appointments and surgery, the bills came to nearly $10,000. It was stressful, but seeing her recover and walk again was worth every sacrifice.

Unfortunately, the specialists warned us that once this happens in one knee, the other is likely to follow. We hoped we’d have more time, but just a few months later, Mia started limping again – this time on her right leg. On August 26, 2025, the vet confirmed our fears: she tore her other ACL. The very next morning, August 27, she underwent surgery to repair it. We wanted to act fast so she could recover before the colder months make things harder for her.

This time, though, we need help. Two major surgeries in less than a year have left us with a heavy financial burden. We want Mia to continue living the happy, adventurous life she deserves – running, playing, and making friends – without pain or limitations.

Meu nome é Kai e sou o orgulhoso papai da Mia, nossa doce e amorosa Rottweiler. Desde o momento em que a vi, soube que ela mudaria a minha vida. Nunca imaginei que poderia amar tanto assim. A Mia tem apenas um ano e meio, mas já passou por muitas coisas.

No início deste ano, poucos dias depois de completar um aninho, a Mia rompeu o ligamento do joelho (ACL). Ficamos arrasados. Ela é uma filhote grande, cheia de energia, e ouvir que precisaria de cirurgia foi desesperador. Mas não pensamos duas vezes – fizemos de tudo, mesmo nos apertando financeiramente, para garantir o melhor cuidado possível. Entre consultas e a cirurgia, as contas chegaram a quase 10 mil dólares. Foi estressante, mas ver a recuperação dela e poder caminhar novamente valeu cada sacrifício.

Infelizmente, os especialistas já tinham nos alertado: quando isso acontece em um joelho, é muito provável que aconteça no outro também. Esperávamos ter mais tempo, mas apenas alguns meses depois, a Mia começou a mancar novamente – dessa vez na perna direita. No dia 26 de agosto de 2025, o veterinário confirmou nossos maiores medos: ela rompeu o outro ligamento. Já na manhã seguinte, 27 de agosto, ela passou por cirurgia para reparar o problema. Agimos rápido para que ela possa se recuperar antes que o frio torne tudo mais difícil para ela.

Dessa vez, porém, precisamos de ajuda. Duas cirurgias grandes em menos de um ano nos deixaram com um peso financeiro enorme. Queremos que a Mia continue vivendo a vida feliz e aventureira que ela merece – correndo, brincando e fazendo amigos – sem dor e sem limitações.
