Our beloved Pluto has suffered a spinal injury—trauma induced Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) that has resulted in complete paralysis of his rear quarters—legs and waste evacuation functionality. We initially opted to give him the chance to recover on his own instead of doing an invasive and expensive surgery which unfortunately has caught us at a time where we cannot afford it. With constant bed side care, his progress has been checked frequently by his vet. After his most recent assessment today, it was determined that the nerve damage is worsening and that recovery without surgery is unlikely. Operating ASAP is crucial as the chance of recovery will steadily decrease with the progression of nerve damage caused by pressure on the spinal cord from herniated discs. Our goal is to get him into surgery ASAP. We are doing everything we can to gather funds but need to have the money in hand once we check him in, so time is of the essence. If you have ever met Pluto you know how happy a dog he is and we are hopeful that with this procedure he will be able to return to his energetic and playful self. Any little bit truly helps, thank you.
