Plunk’s road to recovery
Donation protected
As some of you may know, on July 18th, our friend Plunk (Laura Plunkett) was involved in a serious hit-and-run incident in NYC. She and a friend were travelling home, on a Revel Scooter, when they were struck from the side by a car. Both were thrown from the scooter into parked cars on the opposite side of the street and the driver of the vehicle immediately fled the scene.
Although her injuries were not life threatening, she has sustained severe damage to her left leg and will be in a wheelchair for the next 6-8 weeks. If recovery goes according to plan she will then begin to bear small amounts of weight (with the aid of crutches) and eventually regain her ability to walk independently and pain free. She will require extensive physical rehab to regain proper function in her legs but her goal is to be walking by Christmas.
Although she feels extremely lucky and grateful for all her amazing friends in New York, the current global pandemic has meant that she is left fighting one of her toughest battles without the presence of her family members, in Ireland. Anybody who knows Plunk, will know that she is an extremely hardworking individual. She moved to New York City to pursue her career/passion and has fought so hard over the last number of years to build a successful life for herself in a country that she loves. As a result of her injuries, she will not be able to return to work, in any form, in the near future and will be faced with large medical expenses, rent, and everyday needs to pay for. For this reason, we have set up a GoFundMe page to help alleviate the costs for her moving forward in the hope to prevent further hardship. We understand and are empathetic to the fact that these are hard times for everyone but any donation, small or large, would be greatly appreciated.
