About a week ago a dog in our building tried to bite Ellie. She lunged into the bushes to get away from him and was scared after but seemed fine. It seemed she might have hit the steel water pipe. She was walking slower than normal but I thought I would keep a close eye on her for the next few days and take her to the vet if it worsened. She was still in good spirits and eating normally. I decided to take her to our vet on Monday because she was shaking. Our vet didn't find anything that day. On Tuesday night after our nightly walk, she slumped down in the hallway and was not very responsive. I rushed her to our local ER where they did an exam and fast tracked us to a bigger, more specialized animal hospital. Ellie was admitted and after the mri they said it was a herniated disc and would prep her for surgery that same day.  

As you all know...Ellie is my world and this is devastating. I have only recently gotten back on my feet after the loss of my mom and Ellie is the main reason I made it through. I know that many of our Instagram doxie friends have gone through this and the strain emotionally and financially is so difficult. I am always touched and thankful for the love and support from our IG friends and the dog loving community is so strong.

Ellie is home now and our bills are at about $7000.00 at the moment and she still needs physio and rehab moving forward.  She is not showing much movement in her legs yet and she has a catheter attached.  I can see in her face that she is in good spirits.
