A Heartfelt Update ♥️
Thank You
It has been a long time since we last updated this page or asked for further support, and before anything else, we want to say thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so deeply grateful to every single person who has supported us — through donations, messages, prayers, and kindness. Your support carried us through an incredibly dark and difficult time, and we will never forget that.
While so much has changed since we first started this journey, the truth is that Zara’s healing journey is still ongoing and will be for the foreseeable future. This is our new normal.
The most hopeful news is that Zara has made tremendous progress. From a nine-year-old girl who relied on a feeding tube to survive and a wheelchair to move, she now has full use of her jaw and significantly improved mobility. These milestones are huge — and we’re so proud of her. However, what feels “normal” for most of us, like eating, moving around, socialising, and getting through a day, is still extremely exhausting for Zara. Every day takes enormous effort.
Zara is now under the specialist care of Benjamin Baig at Evelina Hospital, who specialises in Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). We have been advised that school is currently completely off the table, as returning too soon could undo the progress she has fought so hard to make. Because of this, Zara remains at home and still requires round-the-clock care, even though she is becoming more independent.
This also means that work is very limited for us, as Zara’s care must come first.
The focus now is on slowly rebuilding strength, stamina, and energy, so that everyday activities — eating, drinking, socialising, and gentle activities — become easier and more natural for her. We hope to introduce one-to-one tuition at home, regular playdates, and eventually, very carefully and gradually, begin the process of reintegrating her back into school. At this stage, we simply don’t know when that will be.
So today, with humility and hope, we are asking for any further support you may be able to offer. Your generosity will help us continue to provide Zara with the care, stability, and support she needs to stay on the right path to recovery.
Thank you for standing with us — for believing in Zara, and for helping our family keep moving forward, one day at a time.
With endless gratitude x
