My name is June. At 12:20am in the morning on Friday 4 December, 2020 my boyfriend and I woke up to an emergency call from the Sydney Emergency Vet Specialists letting me know that a kind soul had brought Taro into their emergency hospital.
I was told that the stranger had heard Taro crying for about an hour before she discovered him with all his injuries.
It then dawned on me that he must have fallen from our high rise apartment on the 6th floor. I failed as his protector...but I am so grateful he is still alive, albeit severely injured.
Taro is now currently in ICU on oxygen nursing broken bones in three places and has bruising to his lungs.
Both of his hind legs are badly fractured and require surgery to place pins/implants to help fuse the joints. The bones have in some parts of his leg penetrated through his skin causing an open wound.
The surgeons at Sydney Vet Emergency & Specialists have said that the full cost of care and surgery will be about $15k-$20k. This amount is significant but at the same time pales in comparison to the possibility of losing an integral part of our family.
So I’m here today to ask for any donation towards Taro’s medical expenses. Any small donation would go a long way to help Taro recover and walk again. I know he has the fighting spirit to get better, he just needs the opportunity to have the right care and treatment.
Taro has been through a lot in the short three years of his life . But he always gets up fromadversity.
As a kitten he was diagnosed with feline panleukopenia where the mortality rate in kittens is 90%. He was the 10% that survived.
It’s also not his time again to say goodbye.
Please help me help Taro and make a small donation.
P.S For transparency, below is an estimate of costs for the medical procedures they sent to my boyfriend.
