PLS HELP SAVE CATHY FROM LIFE-THREATENING CANCER
We are making this heartfelt plea as a family on behalf of our courageous, strong-willed, and God-fearing daughter, sister, and Aunt Catherine, to raise funds to help cover medical expenses for a life-saving and life-prolonging treatment. Cathy has been bravely battling Stage IV Breast Cancer that has metastasize to the lungs, bones, spine, and brain since February 2020.
Despite this devastating news and severity of her illness, she refused to give in, and instead courageously endured a long and extensive treatment over the next year and a half, including a combination of grueling chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She defied expectations and was recovering well until this past week. Our dearest Cathy is yet again experiencing a more frightening ordeal.
On June 9, Cathy collapsed while at her place of work. Her whole body weakened that led her to lose balance. She was rushed to the ER and was initially diagnosed by her specialty doctor with TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack or mini stroke) — a serious condition where the blood supply to the brain is temporarily blocked, quite like a stroke but with symptoms that last for a short amount of time.
Since her hospitalization, Cathy would have short episodes of TIA and gradually recover. She was fully conscious of her surroundings, conversing as normal, and able to freely move her body after each attack. A couple of days into her treatment, the inevitable has happened, Cathy’s symptoms took a turn for the worse. Suddenly, she lost complete control of the dominant side of her body; unable to move or speak; her eyes would open but the rest of her body remained still.
Unfortunately, it was not long until the complication intensified, Cathy started having high fever, elevated blood pressure, and became unresponsive. Based on her MRI scans, the doctors found some bleeding and swelling in her brain. Cathy is currently intubated as her condition started to deteriorate and may have to undergo open brain surgery. Cathy has been a life-long devoted and responsible daughter; a protective and selfless sister, an equally very loving and caring aunt to all her nieces and nephews; a humorous and loyal friend to many.
During this very difficult and emotional time, our family is in much need of your prayers and support. Thus, we appreciate any amount you may wish to share to help defray medical expenses for Catherine’s hospitalization. We may not know what lies ahead, but God is there! And one thing is for sure, only God is able.
