Hi Hula fam, my name is Matt. I help build and operate the Incendia stage at Hulaween- and I had an absolutely incredible time partying with you all over the weekend.. but this post isn't about me. Let me introduce you all to an integral member of our crew at Incendia, and one my favorite people. This is Collette, she has been with us for many years and just finished leading us through a grueling tour season, during which she absolutely slayed the objectives.. but not without sacrificing being away from home for months on end and working ridiculous hours wrangling various extremely heavy soot covered flame expelling metal objects in an assortment of potentially life-threatening situations. Incendia doesn't happen without Collette, and if you've ever had any fun at one of our stages or installations, she probably facilitated you doing so. If you caught us roaming around spirit lake dressed as a group of elderly people or a pack of sea creatures- you most likely had a good laugh or ten. Collette's boyfriend Chad threw down an absolute stomper of a DNB set Friday night at Incendia (dressed like your grandpa) and also busted his ass on work crew with us all weekend. They are both more than family to us, so this is why I'm here- to reach out for some help in getting them through a tough time. When they left site after strike, Collettes Honda Element overheated and had to be towed to the nearest mechanic. The mechanic replaced the radiator at a cost of $500 and they departed again. Five minutes down the road the engine blew and the car was pronounced totaled. They had to rent a UHAUL to tow the Honda and all their stuff back to North Carolina from just out of Live Oak FL. Tow costs + repair costs + Uhaul costs are already well above $1000 and they still have to purchase a new vehicle. We don't make a lot of money out here as soot monkeys, but we do it because we absolutely love it- so I figured it was worth reaching out to some of the rest of you who also love what we do to see if any of you are in a position to help them recover and save for a new whip. Anything helps, if you can't contribute please give the post a bump or help spread the word. SOOT LIFE<3
