Hello. My name is Michelle (but people call me Shelby) and my husband's name is Bobby.

My husband is disabled. He has congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease, diabetes with insulin, high blood pressure, and he has to wear oxygen 24/7 and use an oxygen machine at home that plugs into the wall.

My husband lost his Social Security disability and his part-time job last year. It was very stressful and a financial hardship all around for us, as we only had my disability to pay every bill. Basically, I robbed Peter to pay Paul to cover as many bills as I could. Also, I had friends and family who we borrowed money from to help us.

The one bill that we were not able to pay is our electric. From March until October, 8 months, I tried to get help from any resources that I could, such as Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, 211, etc., only to be told they had no funding available.

My husband received temporary disability payments from October until this month, March. Even with his temporary payments, we still were not able to catch up; however, we could make the monthly payments for the electric company. We were told as long as we could make the $250 payment each month, they would not turn off the electricity.

We received a letter from Social Security telling us that he would NOT be receiving a payment for April and the months ahead as they STILL haven't made the decision of whether or not he will receive his permanent disability back.

Our electric company, TECO, has now told us that if we don't pay the $250 that we owe by the 28th of March, the electricity will be turned off on the 7th of April. I have been trying for over a year now to get assistance from those resources above and no one can help.

I wouldn't normally do this, but it was suggested to me to do a GoFundMe page to get some help. I do understand that many are in financial hardship. If you can help us, no matter how small or large the amount, it would be greatly appreciated. With him on oxygen 24/7, we can't be without electricity.
