I have started this fundraiser for my best friend, Allen Plowman, and his family, who were one of the thousands affected by the Camp Fire in Paradise California. To highlight the man Allen is, he his a single dad of two amazing kids. He constantly takes them to their activities such as swim competitions and cribbage tournaments. Allen is one who constantly puts others before him. He jumped at the opportunity to help me with my marriage proposal to my (now) wife. He was right by both our sides when I proposed, and he was also the one who married us. He will constantly jump at the chance to help someone in need, and never cared about himself.
Allen's only belongings left are what he was able to take in the 30 minutes he had to evacuate. His house and property was completely destroyed along with his sources of income, which was a shop he used to fix old bikes to sell, and a bar that he was a DJ at.
His home wasn't insured. This is because the home was not insurable until all construction permits were completed. The house was originally purchased as a condemned property that he has worked tirelessly on for the last 5 years to make a home. He was on pace to have all his outstanding permits completed by the end of the month and would finally be able to insure the property. The fire came a month too early.
Allen and his family will be starting over completely. Any funds donated will go towards basic living expenses for him to provide for his kids, and secure a place to live. This will include, clothes, foods, items for his kids, and likely a camper trailer to place on his property to live until he can rebuild his home.
Allen has given me authority to manage his finances in this effort so he can focus on taking care of his kids.
