Hi, my name is Brittany and I’m fundraising for my puppy, Pepper. She’s only 5 years old, she’s my baby. She’s the sweetest puppy you’ll ever meet, she loves cuddles and she carries a little plush toy everywhere she goes (she has way too many because I spoil her). She comforts me when I’m sad and she’s the reason I was able to pull myself out of depression several times. On August 31, she got into a fight with a German Shepherd mix and her torso was punctured twice. Once under her little leg, and once near her lungs. She was improving, so they were able to get her into surgery. They found that she had a severely bruised lung, they saw all of the broken ribs and assessed the severity of the breaks, her muscle wall was practically shredded where she was bit, and she had quite a lot of fluid around her lungs. They thought the bruised lung looked viable, so we're hopeful it will heal from the bruising on its own. For the broken ribs, they were able to stitch together the most mangled rib and are going to let the rest heal themselves. They were also able to stitch together the muscle that was shredded. For the fluid buildup, they inserted a chest tube to drain the fluid, and once the fluid was drained, they were able to remove the chest tube. She's home now, and recovering.

I’m a college student and I have very little money as I live with my parent and survive off of financial aid, and I’ve been putting all of her bills on my credit card. The total cost for the overnight stay, surgery, medications, etc. was about $13,000. I have happily put myself into severe credit card debt to ensure that my puppy will be okay, but if I could get even one donation, it would help so much and would mean the absolute world to me and my little girl.
