On Halloween of this year (10/31/19), my mom told me that her doctor suspected that she had stage 1 stomach cancer. A few days later, the results confirmed the diagnosis. It has been barely over a year when my mom received her hysterectomy. Bills are still flying in from that surgery. She had suffered uterine prolapse. The first surgery was a complete tragedy; the doctor removed her uterus, but managed to puncture a hole in her bladder in the process. I remember that day the doctor came up to me and said that the surgery went well and didn’t touch her bladder at all, which should’ve triggered red flags because I didn’t ask about her bladder. Because her bladder was leaking, she had to get surgery from a specialist, which FINALLY went well. From the two surgeries, the bills are piling up. My mother and I were trying to sue the first doctor for medical malpractice, but this case is tough according to the lawyers we’ve contacted, and we haven’t been able to pursue a lawsuit. If you know any lawyers that can help out our case, that’d be a massive help as well. I hate to resort to gofundme, and I understand everyone has their own set of problems. I do not wish to burden my friends and family with our medical bills, but the healthcare in America has forced me to do so. If you know me, you know that my immediate family just consists of my mom and me. I cannot bear to see her suffer again & I cannot bear to have the thought of possibly losing her. I am just 21, and I love my job, but I do not make enough to make a dent in these bills. I try to give her a portion of my check when I can, but my checks barely support myself & I need to pay for my own things because I do not want to add to her burden. Unfortunately, the first thought I had  when she told me about the cancer is how we would be able to pay for this. My mom and I will be going to her doctor’s appointment on the 19th of this month (November) to begin discussing treatment options. Please keep her in your thoughts & prayers.
