Hi everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read Michael's story. It's been a very rough 8 months. In January of this year Michael began having issues that have progressively gotten worse. We took him to the ER because he was throwing up blood and he was in a lot of pain. They ran a lot of tests and told us that he had a kidney stone that was 6 mm and needed to be removed. They also found that he had bacterial ulcerative colitis, gallstones, and an enlarged hiatal hernia. This led to more testing through primary care and a GI specialist. Also at this time Michael's left leg was in so much pain that it hurt to the touch. He was then having severe back pain as well and so they sent him to an orthopedic believing that he had herniated discs. Turns out he did not have herniated discs and they sent him to neurology. After three different mri's of his brain, cervical spine, and his thoracic spine they found that he had demyelinization and lesions. After more testing it has been determined that Michael has Crohn's disease, grade C esophagitis, along with the large hiatal hernia, and a very possible diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. We go this week for more testing and a lumbar puncture. Michael had to go on medical leave from his job at the beginning of May. From January to April he wasn't able to work that much due to being very sick and most days not able to ambulate at all. When Michael had to stop working completely our income significantly decreased as he was the main breadwinner in our household. And of course we have been doing the best that we can but it has taken a toll. The medications that they have put him on are very expensive. One specific medication has not worked for the Crohn's disease and so they are now seeking to do infusions that are over $9,000 per infusion. Of course we will be working with the manufacturers to help offset the cost. And because Michael has not been able to work due to his illnesses his job does not pay their part for his medical insurance which cost us over $600 a month. I am working full-time and then some but it seems it's not enough. And I am creating this GoFundMe as a last resort. Please help us if you can and it doesn't have to be monetary. Share our campaign and we welcome all the prayers that we can get for Michael's Journey. We know that he has a long road ahead of him. And we are hoping that the doctors in Rapid City can help us. Again I appreciate you taking the time to read our story and any help is appreciated. I will update with any news that we get.
