Hello, my name is Nisha Brookes. On the 4th Feb 2026 we got the devastating news that our 5 year old, Sierra, has a brain tumour. She is having major brain surgery on Friday 6th February to try and resect and biopsy her tumour in the hopes to remove what they can and find out if this is a cancerous tumour or a benign one. This is a long road, nothing is known yet, how many tests, surgeries, the prognosis, type or grade of tumour, whether she will need cancer treatments. What we do know is she has a drain fitted for now to help with her hydrocephalus (fluid build up in the brain) and that she is about to undergo major surgery, and that this will be a long stay miles away from home. Neither of us drive, and we have just been informed that only one parent can stay, the emergency accommodation here is free for 2 nights but costs for every night after. We need to stay together, she needs us both, we can’t work during this so we won’t be able to afford the accommodation on a long term basis which is what we may need. Any help from anyone would go a long way to keeping two very terrified parents with their equally terrified and very seriously unwell 5 year old.
