Hi, my name is Heidi and I’m reaching out to ask for help for our friend and colleague, Christoper DeJulio. Recently during a planned roof repair on his home, the roofing contractor made an error in judgment and left the roof exposed during a heavy rain storm. Several inches of rain made its way into the attic causing extensive damage that made his house uninhabitable. His family of 6 is currently living in temporary housing 20 miles from their home and will be displaced for several months. There is extensive damage to every room on the second floor as well as minor damage to the main floor. The contractor's insurance company is not providing the proper amount of support and assistance and there is no timeline or guarantee of appropriate reimbursement. Christopher and his family have lost work time and family time with their kids - including two planned camping trips that they had to cancel. Their oldest daughter is headed to college this week and has been unable to enjoy her last month in her family home.
Christopher, his wife, and four kids are making the best of the situation but it is difficult when they only have access to a fraction of their belongings and have little idea where their items are or if they have been destroyed. With school starting soon, the kids all need new clothing and supplies to replace what they have lost. There are also many things that insurance will not cover including gas for the additional commute, lost family heirlooms, and endless hours dealing with the roofer, attorneys, insurance companies, and contractors, and the trauma experienced as a result of this situation.
Please join me in helping support this wonderful family as they try to rebuild their home and their lives.
