I’ve spent my life helping people and pets in need through rescue work, and now, for the first time, I find myself on the other side — asking for help.
Two weeks ago, my rescue dog, Wally, was in a freak accident that has turned our world upside down. On our daily walk, he ran into an old metal pole hidden in the long grass. The impact tore through his skin and muscle, leaving him with devastating severe injuries.
Since then, our days have been filled with emergency vet visits, multiple surgeries, and countless days of worry. Wally has been significantly stitched up, his wounds split open, and he endured major procedures where the damaged skin had to be cut away. He is currently sedated daily just so his dressings can be changed, giving his large and deep wound the best chance to heal.
Despite it all, Wally, a big 6 year old goofball Lurcher is still fighting. He has so much love left to give, and I’m determined to give him every chance to make a full recovery.
But his treatment costs are overwhelming, currently £221 daily. His insurance has already covered £7,000 and there is no more money left — and yet, we still have months of recovery ahead, with more surgery on the horizon at an estimated £2,500-£5,500, not including the recovery itself.
This is where I’m asking, humbly, for your help.
Anyone who knows me knows I would do absolutely anything for my dogs. I’ve always been the one to support others through tough times, and now I’m reaching out to ask for support for Wally.
Every single donation — big or small — will go directly toward his veterinary care, giving him the chance he deserves. Even if you cannot give financially, simply sharing this far and wide would mean the world.
From the bottom of my heart: thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for helping us fight for Wally’s recovery.
For any money raised over what we need we will donate to rescue charities to help other pets in need.
Warning: I’ve blurred a graphic image of his wound and not included others due to how graphic they are.
