Please support Rob's battle against cancer!

On June 18, 2021 Rob & his family got life changing news when they received confirmation he had cancer. He was diagnosed with Myxiod Liposarcoma. It is a cancer that is known for spreading to bones. Rob has a large tumor on the back of his left thigh. With this type of cancer an MRI was done to see if it had spread. Doctors quickly discovered it had spread throughout his body.

On June 29th, Rob’s doctor informed us that an MRI showed he had a tumor that wrapped around the middle of his spine (T7), and he wanted Rob to come to the hospital that evening. His doctors, along with communication with Mayo Clinic, decided it would be best to do surgery to remove most of the tumor since there was a chance that radiation wouldn’t shrink it and leaving it too long could cause paralysis. This would be the start of Rob’s fight against cancer! After a successful surgery Rob was in remarkable spirits and starting recovery. He enjoyed the company & conversation with the parade of doctors, nurses, techs, & specialists that came to help him in his new battle. He went home on July 6th. Things haven't gone quite as planned but nothing in life ever does. Rob's mobility started to decline. It became increasingly more difficult to move and perform the daily functions of life.

On the morning of July 13th Abby's step-dad passed away. Rob’s son Zane stepped up to help Rob prepare for a doc appointment but it wasn't too be... His legs wouldn't allow it. That evening a decision was made to call the paramedics to get him safely back downstairs. Rob got an ambulance ride back to the hospital. It is amazing to see how incredible Rob's attitude is! Here he was yucking it up with the crew as he is in extreme pain as they moved him! Totally Rob!

July 15th welcomed back in the hospital by a friendly & familar staff, Rob started chemotherapy! Time to kick some cancer butt! Of course it kicked back. July 16th the neurologist was concerned about Rob’s loss of mobility. He ordered an MRI. As soon as he reviewed it they immediately took Rob back to do another spinal surgery on the same tumor! That also required him to be taken off of his chemotherapy. His tumor is growing downward into his spine so the doctor had to decompress the lower part of his spinal column to make room for the tumor. Since this tumor is so aggressive, the doctor explained that we won't be able to wait for Rob's spinal surgery to heal before they start chemo/radiation therapy. The hope is that Rob is young enough that he can heal and do treatments AND do physical therapy to improve his legs all at the same time. Lord have mercy!

Those of you reading this now should know the kind of man Rob is. He is kindhearted, loyal, and generous to help everyone he meets! Not to mention, a bit ornery at times! And that's why we love the guy! He fully supports the church, the Knights of Columbus, and serves as an active USAF reservist! He has dedicated his life to the service of God, his family, and his country. He has touched the lives of so many. This is our chance to touch his! Please consider helping Rob and his family during the most challenging time of their lives.
