Those of you who know Patty, our nurse at Stanislaw Facial Plastic Surgery Center, know how caring and special she is to us and to our patient base.  What you probably don’t know, is she was fighting breast cancer last fall-very few people knew. Ever the consummate professional, she only took a short leave of absence for surgeries before returning to work. You also probably wouldn’t have known that for 30 straight days, every morning, she went for radiation therapy before coming to the office to tend to her patients here. She fought hard and was incredibly brave throughout her treatment. We truly believe her positive approach was key to such a remarkable recovery.

Unfortunately, Patty received more bad news:  within 6-months of her breast cancer she was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal (Thymic) Large B-cell Lymphoma, a very aggressive cancer that requires aggressive treatment. She’s been told by the oncologist that her treatment will require 96 straight hours of in-patient IV chemotherapy called R-EPOCH every 3-weeks over an 18-week period. Despite the overwhelming news, Patty remains positive and optimistic and we believe she will beat this too!

Needless to say, Patty will not likely be able to work while undergoing such an aggressive chemo regimen.  With Patty still trying to recover from last year’s medical bills and more on the horizon, we decided to launch a fundraiser campaign.  Our goal is to ensure her family’s day to day needs are met and that they don’t have to worry about paying the basic bills, putting food on the table and the medical bills. Her energy should be focused solely on getting better.

We have established this GoFundMe page so friends and family can make donations or, if you prefer, you may send payments to her directly: Patty Ferguson c/o Stanislaw Facial Plastic Surgery Center 35 Nod Rd Ste 204 Avon, CT 06001.  If you are unable to donate, your well wishes and prayers will be deeply appreciated.  We encourage you to share this page with as many people as possible. We will post periodic updates on how she’s doing.

We thank you for your generosity, kindness and well wishes.

The continued support and generosity shown by so many friends, family and strangers alike continues to astound Patty. As you may know from her last post she completed round 2 of her chemo. Unfortunately, she was readmitted into the hospital for complications from her treatment, some of which can be serious. Please keep her in your prayers while she continues to bravely fight for her life. We ask that you continue to share her GoFundMe page. Thanks for all you’ve done and continue to do to help her through this difficult time. We will keep you posted with any news on her progress.

I’m on day 5 of my second round of chemo. I’ll finish about 8pm tonight, then home for 2 weeks (yah)!
Overall I’m doing well, and feeling pretty good, especially for what chemo can do to a person. I’m having some side effects, (including hair loss, that was shown in my last post), but so far very manageable.
As I have said before, I’m learning as I go, keeping it real, taking it one step at a time, and above all staying POSITIVE!
I have been able to draw so much strength from the encouragement, kindness, support, and LOVE from so many WONDERFUL people, which includes some people I have never even met!
Just saying thank you hardly seems adequate to express my gratitude, but know that it comes most sincerely from my heart ❤️!

XO❤️XO❤️

All I can say, is TRUE love ! It doesn’t get any better than this! I couldn’t believe that the entire staff shaved their heads one by one right after I shaved mine, except for our newest staff member. It was her first day. The support from my work family has been and continues to be AMAZING! I’m so blessed and proud to be a member of this WONDERFUL team! My heart is FULL ❤️!
Thank you Dr. Stanislaw, Deb, Julie, Mona, and Ann Marie !

As expected, Patty began losing clumps of hair this week. It’s hard for any woman to accept this kind of hair loss. Yes, she was sad but she realizes that this too shall pass. Hair grows back. She was able to come into the office a couple days this week before starting round 2 of chemo next week. She put on her happy face as you can see in this photo. Later the same day, surrounded by her work family, she shaved her head with the grace of an amazing woman. We will post that remarkable event tomorrow. Wow do we have a surprise for you!
