Our beloved father, Mario Lituma, 64 years old, was rushed to the hospital on August 9th due to severe abdominal pain. What we first thought might be something minor turned into a critical condition that put his life at risk. After several days of uncertainty and difficult tests, he was finally diagnosed with Mesenteric Thrombosis, a life-threatening illness with a very high risk of death.

On August 12th, he underwent his first emergency surgery. Unfortunately, the doctors discovered necrosis in part of his intestine, which required two more surgeries, on August 13th and again on August 20th, due to complications. Our father spent 11 days in the intensive care unit, fighting between life and death, and he is still hospitalized to this day.

At one point, the doctors told us his chances of survival were only 5%. We even called a priest to perform his Last Rites, fearing we might lose him. But with incredible strength and faith, he held on to life and continues to recover, little by little, despite the many challenges.

He has now been in the hospital for more than 15 days, and every single day brings new medical expenses that we must cover. He lives in Cuenca, Ecuador and because it was a holiday weekend, when there were no specialists available at the public hospital, he had to be transferred to a private clinic. This has generated a very high hospital bill that, as of August 21st, had already reached more than $17,000, and it continues to grow until the day he is discharged, which is re day it must be paid in full.

Our father is loved by many and has been a devoted son. He has been the main caregiver of our grandmother, who is now almost 102 years old and it has been devastating to see him g through this.

As a family, we have done everything we can to gather funds, but the costs are rising quickly and far beyond our reach. That is why today, with all our hearts, we humbly ask for your support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be an immense help during this difficult time.

Nuestro querido padre Mario Lituma, de 64 años, fue llevado de urgencia al hospital el pasado 9 de agosto debido a un dolor abdominal muy fuerte. Lo que al inicio pensamos que sería algo pasajero, resultó ser una condición crítica que ha puesto su vida en riesgo. Después de varios días de incertidumbre y de un diagnóstico difícil, finalmente le detectaron Trombosis Mesentérica, una enfermedad con un alto riesgo de muerte.

El 12 de agosto fue sometido a una primera cirugía de emergencia. Lamentablemente, encontraron necrosis en parte de su intestino, lo que obligó a realizar dos operaciones adicionales, el 13 y el 20 de agosto, debido a complicaciones. Nuestro padre pasó 11 días en cuidados intensivos, luchando entre la vida y la muerte, y hasta hoy continúa hospitalizado.

Hubo un momento en que los médicos nos dijeron que sus posibilidades de sobrevivir eran apenas del 5%. Incluso llegamos a llamar a un sacerdote para que le diera la Unción de los Enfermos, pues pensamos que lo perderíamos. Pero él, con una fortaleza increíble y una fe inmensa, se aferró a la vida y día a día sigue recuperándose, aunque el camino es largo y lleno de retos.

Actualmente lleva más de 15 días en el hospital y cada día representa nuevos gastos médicos que la familia debe cubrir. El vive en Cuenca, Ecuador y debido a la emergencia, fue trasladado a una clínica privada porque en el hospital público, al ser feriado largo, no había especialistas disponibles. Esto ha generado una cuenta hospitalaria muy alta, que hasta el 21 de agosto ya ascendía a más de $17,000, y que seguirá aumentando hasta el día que reciba el alta.

Nuestro padre es un hombre luchador, y también un hijo ejemplar: ha sido el principal cuidador de mi abuelita, que hoy tiene casi 102 años. Él siempre ha estado al servicio de su familia, y ahora es él quien necesita de nosotros.

Como familia hemos hecho todo lo posible por reunir dinero, pero los gastos crecen rápidamente y sobrepasan nuestras fuerzas. Por eso hoy, con el corazón en la mano, pedimos su ayuda. Cualquier aporte, por pequeño que parezca, será un alivio inmenso en medio de este difícil momento.

Estamos profundamente agradecidos con Dios por permitirnos aún tenerlo con vida, y agradecidos también con todas las personas que con sus oraciones, palabras y apoyo nos han acompañado en esta prueba tan dura.
