Please Support Otto's Journey to Walk Again

Hi everyone, I usually don’t do things like this and feel extremely out of my comfort zone doing so but unfortunately my sweet pup Otto has been put in a terrible situation that required an emergency surgery that costed me $17,000. I’ve had Otto for 3.5 amazing years, and I’ve tried my absolute best to prevent IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) from occurring, but sadly his Dachshund breed is just prone this type of disease and it is often hereditary. I really hoped and prayed this day would never come but on Sunday, Otto started walking a little funny and within just a few short hours he lost all control of his back legs. I promptly took him to the emergency vet and they recommended immediate spinal surgery to prevent permanent paralysis from his chest down.

Otto is only 3 years old and has so much life to live. There was an option to reject the surgery, with the likelihood that he will be paralyzed, in pain, and ultimately in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. This honestly broke my heart because he's such a wonderful dog and doesn’t deserve that. If any of you know Otto, he is most playful, loyal, sweetest, derpiest weenie dog you’ll ever meet. He deserves a life that involves being able to run and walk and play ): He has been there for me through so much. He truly is so special and is the light of my life, and it pains me so much to see him go through this. I really hope he recovers smoothly and continues to live a long happy life after this.

I understand the cost of having a pet, and I will always do anything for Otto. However the financial and emotional stress is more than I thought I could handle. I do have pet insurance, but even then it will only cover a few thousand. I would really appreciate anything to help alleviate the financial burden.
