On February 9, 2026, Nozipo Wobogo, a beloved wife, mother, and pillar of her East Palo Alto community, after a sudden illness joined the ancestors. For over 50 years, Iya Nozipo dedicated her life to uplifting others—founding a school with her husband, Baba Vulindlela Wobogo, nurturing generations of students, and sharing her gifts as a healer, cultural organizer, and jazz vocalist. Her warmth, wisdom, generosity and angelic voice touched many of our lives, and her legacy will live on in our hearts.
For decades, Baba and Iya have poured generously into community. Every aspect of their lives a prominent demonstration of extended family values—held with love, commitment, and sacrifice. So many of our lives have deeply benefitted from the tireless devotion Baba and Iya offered to our community, and now, due to the sudden deterioration of her health and unexpected transition, Baba Wobogo and their daughter Ama, need our help. We are asking you to donate to this GoFundMe campaign to help cover the remaining medical expenses, as well as the additional costs to bury and celebrate her life.
