Hi, my name is Gabby, and I’m reaching out with vulnerability and hope. I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember — not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and socially. This isn’t just about appearances; it’s about reclaiming my health, my energy, and my future.
Over the years, I’ve tried everything: every diet trend, exercise program, intermittent fasting, WeightWatchers, calorie tracking — you name it. Despite my dedication and persistence, nothing has helped me break free from the weight that has been holding me down for decades.
Two years ago, my doctor recommended gastric sleeve surgery as a medical tool to help me achieve a healthier weight and reduce the health risks that come with a BMI over 40. After researching and preparing myself mentally and physically, I felt ready to take this step. But then I hit a major roadblock — my health insurance doesn’t cover bariatric surgery. Even when it’s medically necessary.
I’ve tried prescription medications to assist with weight loss. I was on Ozempic for almost a year but had to stop due to severe side effects. I’ve recently switched to Zepbound, but so far, it hasn’t given me the results I desperately need. Despite making real changes — adding more movement to my day, focusing on protein and fiber, and reducing portion sizes — I need a more effective, long-term solution.
The out-of-pocket cost for this surgery is upwards of $25,000 — an amount that is simply unmanageable for me without support. Taking on a personal loan or high-interest credit card debt isn’t financially viable, but I’m not giving up. I am planning to apply for a medical grant through the Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America in the near future, but the odds of being accepted for one of these grants is slim, which is why I’m turning to this community for help. If I'm somehow lucky enough to be granted one of these donations, any money raised here that doesn't assist me in covering surgical costs will be donated to foundations that support others getting life changing procedures of their own.
If you’re able to contribute, even a small amount, you’d be helping me take a life-changing step toward better health, mobility, and confidence. And if you’re not in a position to give, sharing this campaign with others would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your support — in any form — brings me closer to a longer and healthier life.
With all my love and gratitude,
Gabby
