Please Support My Journey from Victim to Survivor

Hello,

 

My name is Rochelle and I am asking for your support to assist me in my breast cancer recovery/treatment as well as recovery from being a victim of a horrible violent crime which resulted in a traumatic brain injury as well as other life changing diagnosis. Due to these two catastrophic events, I have been on extended periods of medical leave and have run out of paid time off. I am fully employed, but now in an unpaid status at work and am terrified I will not have the funds to pay my health insurance premiums, other household expenses and as well as cover my out of pocket portion of an upcoming breast cancer surgery which I'm praying I won't have to cancel. 

 

Although I have a wonderfully supportive network of family and friends, specifically the most caring, loving, and patient boyfriend/partner, Jared, I am a single mom with two teenage girls and need financial assistance in order to continue to move forward. I refuse to let these events define me and am working hard with my breast cancer doctors, trauma recovery resource programs, speech, physical, occupational and psychological therapists to regain my independence. They all say my prognosis is good, but it takes time and I have to be patient. They all say the more I worry and stress, the longer it will take my brain to heal. Even almost 12 weeks later, I still have scarring, bruising, and swelling which my doctors say will need to be addressed with specialists which we will not be able to start until my vestibular, brain, head, and neck injuries have resolved.

 

With the help of others, we created this Go Fund Me to request help. I am usually a very strong independent, organized, and out-going woman and was even working on my doctoral degree before the attack. Each day I mourn the loss of that independence, but I still strive to be a version of that woman again and hopefully, maybe even stronger. This is very hard for me to put all this out there and be so vulnerable, so even if you can't offer any financial assistance, please add my family and I to your prayers and positive thoughts.
