*UPDATE* 2/2

WE DID IT! She is officially out! We needed to make sure all our ducks were in a row before announcing it but Jennifer is a free woman as of the time of this update!

I need to take a moment to thank everyone who generously donated their money to make this happen and to everyone who took the time to spread the word of this effort. It truly takes a village and I so grateful for people around the world that came to together make this happen!

I want to thank Cody who worked on this hand and hand with me to make this happen. It has been a whirlwind since he first told what had happened and we sprung into action because the alternatives were too horrific to fathom.

In addition, I want to thank all the other people who worked behind the scenes with advice, with concern and with assistance to get us over the finish line. This was truly a collaborative effort and a win for all of us, but especially for Jennifer.

I know she will resting this evening but I sure she will have plenty to say soon enough. Again, thank you thank you thank you to everyone who helped us get to this point! We are all very grateful!

*UPDATE* 2/1

Some of her friends that I am working on this with have spoken to Jennifer and she has given us permission to further elaborate on what is going on.

We will be using these funds to secure her release from the facility that she is currently being held in. She is currently being held due to an incident that was self defense against a male attacker and that her side of the story was not taken seriously. She is being held in solitary confinement in the men’s area of the facility and they are misgendering her intentionally, even to the point of misgendering her to the public when calls are made.

Given the Executive Orders from the current administration, we do not know how long they plan to keep her in solitary for and we are scared about the possibility of her being placed in the men's population where her well-being and quite likely her life would be in jeopardy. This is why time of is the essence. Thank you all for the incredible support you have shown already.

Also just for clarity with the TOS here, the money we are raising is for her release and not being used for legal defense or fees.

This fundraiser is on behalf of my friend Jennifer. She is currently facing dire circumstances, one that literally could escalate into a life or death situation. As per her wishes, I'm not able to give specific details at this time, but if you know me, you will know I am not prone to hyperbole. I will say, that given the current political administration and the fact that she is a transwoman, her current plight is all the more dangerous. If we can reach this goal, we can literally save my friend's life.

I will amend this if she gives me permission to say more but trust me when I say this is even more serious than not being able to pay bills or issues of that severity. I say that not to belittle anyone's circumstances, just to illustrate the gravity of my friend's situation. If I had the resources to just write a check and resolve this issue for my friend of 12 years, I would but I am unfortunately not in a position to do so, thus I turn to the generosity and compassion of our friends and community.

Time is literally of the essence so thank you in advance for your support, no matter how big or how small.
