Hi, I’m Kimberlee—just reaching out to say hello and share a little about my daughter, Lilah.

In the spring of 2022, Lilah randomly joined a Portland Parks and Recreation volleyball class. Who knew that moment would spark such a deep passion. She fell in love with the sport almost immediately, and it’s been a driving force in her life ever since.

For those unfamiliar with competitive volleyball at this age, the more committed a player becomes, the higher the level they play—and unfortunately, the more expensive it gets. Lilah is nearly 13 and already 5'9", she's left-handed which gives her another advantage. She’s been playing on 12U teams for three years and has competed in beach volleyball in the 14U category for two. She now has the opportunity to play year-round at a highly competitive level. It’s safe to say she’s all in!

While the costs are mind blowing, it might also surprise you to know that colleges start recruiting very early for Women's Volleyball. This starts as early as 9th grade so it's a very key time for her.

Some of you may not know that I’ve lived with a debilitating pain condition since Lilah was six months old. It’s been a long and difficult journey, and while I’ve continued to work, there have been stretches where I’ve had to take time off to manage my health. Thanks to love and support from friends and family, things have been manageable.

As a single-income, single mother, I’ve done everything I can to support Lilah’s passion. But as she grows in the sport, the financial demands grow too. Competitive club volleyball can cost thousands of dollars a year, including club fees, and particularly travel. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up.

I know this is a tough time to ask for help. There’s so much happening in the world, and many important causes that need support. I truly don’t have any expectations—just gratitude for anyone who’s in a position to contribute and feels moved to do so. Every dollar will go directly toward Lilah’s volleyball journey, and every bit helps.

I wish I could fully express how much this sport means to her. Aside from the occasional shopping trip or time on her phone, volleyball is all she talks about. It’s her joy, her focus, and her community.
