I have set this up on behalf of my brother!
My name is Charlie Exley and I’ve spent my life playing football at the highest standard I can, managing to reach a professional level at the age of 18. Since, I’ve played for a range of teams largely in the northern league, and I am loving my time currently at Consett AFC.
Sadly, that time has been halted. Having damaged my knee playing earlier on in the season, snapping my previously reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), there is essentially nothing left to stabilise my knee.
The injury itself was devastating and took a great deal of time for me to process and accept.
I’ve tried since to organise the operation I need through the NHS, but due to the current situation we have with healthcare and the unexpected delays caused by Covid 19, the wait time for my operation is now 2+ years; waiting this long, plus further time post surgery for recovery, to get back to doing something I love seems unthinkable.
I am absolutely desperate to get back playing for my team and returning to some form of regular life, where I needn’t worry about how I move or where I go in case my knee can’t support me. And so with your help, I’m looking to go private to help me along with this process.
