On Saturday, December 20th, Max was involved in a devastating dirt bike accident and was air lifted to Cooper Trauma Center, where he underwent emergency spinal surgery.
Max suffered fractures to his T8–T12 vertebrae and L1, along with a spinal cord injury. He also sustained a broken sternum, multiple broken ribs, blood clots in his carotid artery, and a punctured lung that required a chest tube after his lung began collapsing. He also has no feeling from his knees down.
The road ahead is long and uncertain. He has been accepted into Jefferson Moss McGee Rehabilitation Center in Philadelphia for intensive acute inpatient rehabilitation. Even with intensive rehabilitation, doctors do not know if Max will ever regain feeling in his lower legs or walk again. Yet, we have intensive faith that with extremely challenging work all your help and prayers, he will. What is certain is that his recovery will require extensive medical care and long-term rehabilitation.
Max is a union ironworker in Local 399. Because of the nature of his accident, his insurance is not covering his hospital or rehabilitation costs, leaving him and our families facing overwhelming medical expenses.
Max is also our future son-in-law, and anyone who knows him knows he is the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone else. He is always ready with a joke and a helping hand. Now, we are asking for that same support for him.
All donations will go toward medical bills, rehabilitation, and supporting Max as he focuses on healing. Any amount helps and sharing this GoFundMe with anyone you think could help means just as much.
Thank you for your kindness, financial support, and prayers in advance!
