My dear friends, Maria could really use our help right now! Last week, her mother's dementia progressed to the point where she needed to be removed from her home and placed into a long-term care facility. The monthly cost is $10K and it is not covered by her mother's current insurance. This means until Medicaid takes effect for her mother-in November-Maria is expected to make the co-payments on that $30K. Maria also needs to pay out of her pocket for everything that's needed to prepare her mother's home for sale i.e. junk removal, dumpster rental, painting, masonry work, landscaping, an appraisal, real estate agent, etc... including keeping the utilities on and homeowner's insurance active. Further making this situation a financial emergency is that Medicaid rules do not allow Maria to be reimbursed for any of these expenses-nor does Maria have any resources to help cover these enormous costs-hence my campaign!
