Greetings to all of Magic’s & Keith Wyman's family and friends. My name is Kim Bromley and Keith is my cousin through marriage. Many of you know his furry roommate, Lil’ Ms. Magic, would stay with me when Keith was out of town, probably photographing, dancing, and enjoying a music festival with his many friends. I don't charge family members to stay, so he would gift me stickers and t-shirts he made to sell at concerts.
I was asked if I could take Magic after Keith had an acute medical emergency. His long-time friend R.K. was coming and letting Magic out twice daily and feeding her. Magic was confused after a welfare check was done on Keith, and a State Trooper had to kick the door in to check on Keith after a concerning FaceTime he had with his son. Keith was in bad shape and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. The family decided she needed a place where she wasn’t alone so much. My family and I picked her up and brought her home with us. I run a boarding kennel for coddled companions. lol . Keith’s family thought it was only going to be a few weeks and he would be able to come home. The hospital and Keith’s family were able to set up a time that I could bring Magic to the hospital to see her dad on Mother’s Day. Keith’s health took a turn for the worse and he passed away the morning before her visit.
Now what will happen to Magic? Family and friends didn’t have a way to bring her into their homes, so I decided I would do some training with her. Magic is a wonderful pup; she just didn’t know how to meet other dogs without scaring them. She is full of curiosity but not with manners. . I was working with her, then I was going to find her an adoptive home. Family and I worked out an agreement regarding food and medical care for approximately 6 months; then if I couldn’t find a home for her, I’d take her.
Now I’m getting to the part of why I chose a GoFundMe page. Magic was quite overweight, so we got her from 75 lbs down to 56 lbs. Since being off the many treats she got, she is now eating between 5-6 cups of normal dog food a day. She loves being outside with the other dogs, but every time she pushed off with her back right leg, she would yell in pain and run back to the porch. This happened day after day. I had a funny feeling she may have a partial tear of her ACL. I called the veterinary office and had Magic's records emailed to me. I read through the whole record and found that in December 2024, a probable ACL tear was diagnosed by a veterinarian at GMVH that was many months old. Dasuquin was given as treatment instead of repairing it. Magic did okay with the meds. She was very overweight and didn’t move around very much, so her knee didn’t bother her. When I got the weight off of her, she had energy, and her torn ACL showed its face again. The family paid for me to get an accurate diagnosis. Magic had x-rays of her hips and knees and was diagnosed with a torn acl in the right knee. I knew I couldn’t adopt her out like this with such an expensive surgery in her near future.
I decided that all she has been through and what she needs to get through, my family and I are going to give her a permanent home. The family has gotten together money for x-rays, food, flea, and tick meds. I am grateful. ☺️
The surgery is too expensive for both the family and myself. We are asking friends and family to please donate towards vaccinations and an ACL surgery. Any amount of money is appreciated by both me and the family. Once again, thank you for taking the time to read about Keith and Magic. We have enhanced her name a little to Lil’ Ms. Magic Sugar Magnolia Wyman-Bromley. Thank you sincerely, Kim and family.
