Please Support Macci's Battle Against Cancer

Hello, my name is Debbie, and I'm reaching out to ask for support for my beloved furbaby, Macci. This past year has been incredibly challenging; in April 2024, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and we lost him just a month later in May. My grief was compounded in September when Macci’s abdomen became bloated, and he started showing signs of illness. After countless tests, consultations, and fluid drainage procedures, Macci was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia that has spread to his liver, spleen, and bloodstream.

Receiving Macci's diagnosis has stirred up many of the emotions I experienced during my dad's battle with cancer. But through it all, Macci has remained the same sweet, cuddly, and lively dog he’s always been. Despite his illness, he continues to bring so much joy and comfort. Only when his abdomen is extremely bloated does he struggle to move comfortably, but his spirit remains strong, and his quality of life is still good.

In just two months, our vet bills have exceeded $6,000 for initial tests, cancer diagnostics, and procedures to determine the best treatment plan. Each fluid drainage session costs between $250 and $450, depending on the length of time required. At one point, the vet drained a liter and a half of fluid, allowing Macci to lose three inches on his waist! For a 12-pound dog, that’s an overwhelming amount of fluid buildup, but he always perks up afterward, showing us that he’s not ready to give up.

We’re hoping chemotherapy will slow or stop the fluid buildup, but the journey ahead is uncertain. We’re now facing bi-weekly blood tests, chemotherapy pills, and continued fluid drainage. I’m humbly asking for any support you can offer, whether it’s a donation toward Macci’s medical expenses or simply sharing this page with others who may be able to help. Every little bit makes a huge difference and gives us more time with Macci, allowing him to enjoy his days without pain.
