We received heartbreaking news this week. My sister Lisa has been diagnosed with A. L. L Leukemia (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-Cell). This is a rare and aggressive form of cancer in the blood which can spread to other organs and the brain. Lisa has been experiencing symptoms since January 2018. It all started with terrible hip pain. She went to her doctor who saw a strange marker in her blood that looked like it could be auto immune. Her doctor sent her on a wild goose chase to see several other specialists including; rhemotoid arthritis, Gastrointestinal, and a Neurologist. No one could pin point what exactly was wrong.  She gave up hope and tried to approach it in a natural way, changing her diet, elimating sugar, gluten etc. Nothing helped. Through this Journey she has suffered from terrible hip pain, joint pain, extreme fatigue and terrible night sweats. She has been unable to work and has been struggling financially since the onset. It finally got so bad that she decided to checked herself into the E. R. At Abbott Northwetern Hospital on Sunday, March 3rd. They knew immediately from her blood tests that this was some form of Leukemia. They told her if she hadn’t come in she would’ve died within a couple months. She has no immune system. She has extremely low white blood cells and platelets and is having blasts in her blood.  The diagnosis was finally given last night after the Bone Marrow results came back.  Aggressive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which is rare in adults. Today she received a Catscan and an MRI to see if it had spread to her brain and/or her organs and so far it has not so that’s great news! Still awaiting a spinal fluid test. Chemo will start immediately today. Because her blood counts are so low and this is an aggressive cancer she will not be able to go home. There will be several phases of Chemotherapy.  She’s gone through many many emotions. She’s worried sick about her daughter Gracie, her significant other Terry, their puppy Nola and especially their finances. Let’s help her get through this without having to worry!!! It sounds like she will be in and out of the hospital over the next 8 months but 90% of this time will be in the hospital. All we know for now is Chemo starts tonight she will be here for 30 days, home for one week and then back here for phase two of chemo for at least two weeks. Beyond that depends on how her body reacts to the chemo, infections, etc. It sounds like it’s going to be at least an 8 month journey. You can visit but PLEASE call her ahead of time and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay home if you have even a slight sniffle or cold or anything of that matter. Coats need to be checked into a closet, you must foam in before entering the room and wear mask. She is in a sterile room. No flowers. Please help in any way possible, any amount will help! We truly appreciate it! This will be used to help pay her rent while in the hospital, groceries, bills and upcoming hospital bills. She shouldn’t have to worry about all of this while trying to heal. I will also be creating a Caring Bridge page for Lisa to keep everyone updated! Let’s help her kick Cancer in the ass!!! Please feel free to share this page! Please pray!!! Thank you so much for your support!

Sitting on the stoop taking in the sunny day... I was discharged from Abbott N.W hospital this weekend finishing the last of 6, week long chemos since March in preparation for the U of M Bone Marrow Stem Cell transplant in late Aug./Sept. All these treatments are in effort to bring my disease to MRD (minimal residual disease) to make way for a new immune system! I will be home recovering from chemo over the next couple weeks to get my blood counts back up and then go in for one last bone marrow biopsy to ensure I have MRD to clear the path for transplant. We are also in this next month getting ready to move Aug.1st. It feels a bit daunting and overwhelming at times and then to add a move just feels insurmountable! I think we will come through the move alright as we've reached out to our tribe and have had good response! We are eternally grateful for your love, & sharing of the page as it helps to spread the message and support! Thank you all for your continued love encouragement and support, it truely means so much!
Be kind to one another... XO

Update! We are approaching phase 2 of my treatment as I prepare to be admitted into Abbott this week for the last round of 4, week long, chemos called Hypercvad since diagnosis in March!! The next step in this 9-12month journey, is to be admitted 4/ 6 weeks @ the U of M for Stem Cell transplant! It is a very long detailed process which at the end of, when I get home, will need 24/7 care for 100 days to watch out for any rejection signs, or the many things that can come with having your imune system replaced with another's. Terry has taken the roll of care giving this far, and has lost much work as a result of just trying to get through this. I'm eternally grateful for the Love and care he brings daily, and to all of you who've reached out, donated, shared the page, and continue showing up for us. We couldn't float this boat or be buoyant without your support! Please consider donating of you are able, any amount makes a big difference in this situation as we head into part 2 and the next few months with the transplant approaching quickly! Be kind and love one another... XO, Lisa❤

Got a new sporty cap! Have been to MN.Oncology 2x this week to stay informed on any changes with my throat and esophagus. So far so good! I gotta say it got pretty stressful and scary at times. I'm so grateful to have Terry at my side, I cannot imagine life without him!
It seems my counts are fair but we've been put on alert to keep watch for any fevers changes over the weekend. Thank you for all the encouragement well wishes, donation, and sharing of the page, it really makes such a difference when it gets shared. I miss going out & seeing my tribe of music lovers, but I know we'll make it out soon as this passes!! XO Lisa G.

"When things change inside things change around you... "
This holds true in many things we carry inside. At the moment I am experiencing great pain as part of my treatment. Blistering in the back of my throat down my esophagus. I wish I felt grateful but all I feel is anger frustration, and a deep sadness. Each Chemo comes with possible side affects that may or may not affect you once you are released from hospital to find out with time until the next admit. So much has changed, been taken, given, all overwhelming at times... The things we assume will just be there are so fleeting & can come & go so fast. Assume nothing treasure every bit of your abilities and those around you. XO
