We received heartbreaking news this week. My sister Lisa has been diagnosed with A. L. L Leukemia (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-Cell). This is a rare and aggressive form of cancer in the blood which can spread to other organs and the brain. Lisa has been experiencing symptoms since January 2018. It all started with terrible hip pain. She went to her doctor who saw a strange marker in her blood that looked like it could be auto immune. Her doctor sent her on a wild goose chase to see several other specialists including; rhemotoid arthritis, Gastrointestinal, and a Neurologist. No one could pin point what exactly was wrong. She gave up hope and tried to approach it in a natural way, changing her diet, elimating sugar, gluten etc. Nothing helped. Through this Journey she has suffered from terrible hip pain, joint pain, extreme fatigue and terrible night sweats. She has been unable to work and has been struggling financially since the onset. It finally got so bad that she decided to checked herself into the E. R. At Abbott Northwetern Hospital on Sunday, March 3rd. They knew immediately from her blood tests that this was some form of Leukemia. They told her if she hadn’t come in she would’ve died within a couple months. She has no immune system. She has extremely low white blood cells and platelets and is having blasts in her blood. The diagnosis was finally given last night after the Bone Marrow results came back. Aggressive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which is rare in adults. Today she received a Catscan and an MRI to see if it had spread to her brain and/or her organs and so far it has not so that’s great news! Still awaiting a spinal fluid test. Chemo will start immediately today. Because her blood counts are so low and this is an aggressive cancer she will not be able to go home. There will be several phases of Chemotherapy. She’s gone through many many emotions. She’s worried sick about her daughter Gracie, her significant other Terry, their puppy Nola and especially their finances. Let’s help her get through this without having to worry!!! It sounds like she will be in and out of the hospital over the next 8 months but 90% of this time will be in the hospital. All we know for now is Chemo starts tonight she will be here for 30 days, home for one week and then back here for phase two of chemo for at least two weeks. Beyond that depends on how her body reacts to the chemo, infections, etc. It sounds like it’s going to be at least an 8 month journey. You can visit but PLEASE call her ahead of time and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay home if you have even a slight sniffle or cold or anything of that matter. Coats need to be checked into a closet, you must foam in before entering the room and wear mask. She is in a sterile room. No flowers. Please help in any way possible, any amount will help! We truly appreciate it! This will be used to help pay her rent while in the hospital, groceries, bills and upcoming hospital bills. She shouldn’t have to worry about all of this while trying to heal. I will also be creating a Caring Bridge page for Lisa to keep everyone updated! Let’s help her kick Cancer in the ass!!! Please feel free to share this page! Please pray!!! Thank you so much for your support!
