On Monday November 8, 2021 Leah called an ambulance while working from home and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors confirmed she had experienced a heart attack. On Thursday 11/11 she was released and returned home. Then on Monday November 15, one week later, Leah suffered a massive stroke while at home alone. She was taken back to St. Thomas Rutherford where she stayed until Wednesday, November 24th. During that time surgery was performed to reduce brain swelling. She is now at Trust Point rehabilitation center where she is learning to swallow, stand up, walk and perform general everyday functions again. She does speech, occupational and physical therapy every day. We, her family, are asking first for your prayers for a complete recovery. Secondly, we are asking for any financial assistance. Funds will go toward medical deductibles and uncovered expenses. In addition we want to continue to pay her bills like mortgage, utilities, and insurance until she recovers. We have a long road ahead, but our Gigi is a fighter and she is working very hard. We expect her to remain at Trust Point for 3-4 weeks. At that time she will be evaluated and next steps determined. Leah will have an additional surgery to her head once swelling is reduced. She has already made great progress and we welcome cards and visitors. Thank you for your support and encouragement! We are so blessed to have friends and family that have jumped in and help in so many different ways!
