Please Support Laurie Byrne battle Cancer

Hi, I am fundraising for my Father -Laurie Byrne, who is currently in Palliative Care at Orange Hospital fighting Stage 4 Melanoma (Nodular Melanoma) & Sepsis.

Laurie is a Loving Husband & full-time carer to his wife of 53yrs Elaine,

a Father of 3, a Grandfather to 5 & Great Grandfather to 12,

a Member of the Masonry (Masons - Right worthy Brother) - Craft Lodge (30yrs) & Secret Monitors (29yrs),

Drove the Local School Bus at Parkes NSW for 15yrs

& is an active and well-respected member of his community giving back when and how he can.

In September 2022, Laurie went to his GP for a routine skin check and a biopsy was taken of a lump found on his shoulder, results came back as Malignant Nodular Melanoma.

The news was a shock but when scans showed Stage 4 and that it had spread to his lower spine he was speechless, to make matters worse due to the position of the Cancer he received Doctors' orders to stop work, as the sole income of the household this was a tough blow and Laurie broke down in tears. Treatment commenced and seemed to be working.

However, In January 2023, Laurie unknowingly developed a UTI after a week of feeling off the paramedics were called and Laurie was taken to Parkes Hospital where he was given treatment but whilst in Hospital it developed into Sepsis. The Sepsis was treated and he was sent home but after just 2 weeks he was rushed to ICU at Orange Hospital as the Sepsis had worsened & further tests showed that the cancer had spread to his Brain.

Laurie has since been moved to Palliative Care where he currently remains and is undergoing further tests and treatments including Immuno-Therapy.

While Laurie has been unable to care for Elaine who is wheelchair-bound due to Chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis carers have been arranged at personal cost as they are not covered by a Disability Insurance Scheme, with these costs the rising cost of living and medical costs for both Elaine & Laurie financial assistance is needed, so I am appealing to you to please help if you can even $1, it all adds up, your support will assist greatly with disability aids & medications as well as paying for full-time carers for Elaine so Laurie can focus on his own health and going towards future medical bills, so if you can please support Dads fight, Thankyou.
