Unfortunately, I need to share the story of a friend and colleague who has been through hell and back over the past 2 years. Many of you know him and others will recognize him as a friendly face at MTE. For those that have not had the pleasure to meet Kevin Going, he is a person who always helps others. Many have seen Kevin win prizes for the Anson drives because he had so many tickets in the draw as he consistently donated hundreds of dollars every year. It’s the kind of person Kevin is and he could afford to be generous. He is a skilled and respected tech who saves his money and is always giving back to others in need.
His life changed while Kevin was out for a jog when he was hit by a car recklessly speeding up onto the sidewalk. He woke up in the hospital to realize not only did he have major physical and neurological damage, his wallet was gone. While Kevin was laying unconscious on the street, instead of calling for help, some piece of shit took the opportunity to steal Kevin’s wallet. Before Kevin regained consciousness in the hospital, this person was able to steal Kevin’s identity and drain all his savings.
Kevin was able to return home where he tried to recover from his injuries. He was able to see a neurological specialist but did not have the time to successfully recover. With his savings gone, Kevin had to get back to work. He spent this past season trying to work repairing hail in Texas where he would feel nauseous and throw up multiple times each day. He is often dizzy and unable to stand up and only manages a few hours of sleep at night. He currently can not feel his feet and is a constant risk to fall which he has multiple times in the past few weeks. Through all this he is still fighting to work but he is losing the fight. He is not getting better and he needs help.
Our goal is to raise money to return Kevin home where he can get physical and occupational therapy. He could pay past due bills and have a cushion for a few months so he can properly rehab and get back to his old self.
I am always encouraged to witness the kindness and support our dent community shows when a colleague needs help. Kevin is a proud person and has taken every possible step to not be in this position. But here he is, a friend and colleague in need off our help.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please support as you are able.
It is much appreciated.
