Kanadell Japanese Bakery is a bakery café in East Vancouver.

Recently, someone smashed our store’s window.

Just a few days earlier, the neighboring store had its window broken in the same way. We’re not sure if it was the same person, but it doesn’t seem like they were trying to break in or steal anything—just to cause damage.

Since it happened late at night, thankfully, no one was hurt. However, our large front window was completely shattered.

As it is, the economy is already tough, and like many others, our store has been struggling with a significant drop in sales and rising expenses.

This winter, our sales has declined by an estimated 22% compared to last year. Even under these circumstances, we’ve been doing everything we can—cutting costs wherever possible—just to keep the business going.

Then, out of nowhere, this happened. It was a complete shock.

Right now, we simply don’t have the resources to repair the window.

Having our beloved shop, which we’ve worked so hard to protect, suddenly damaged by such a senseless act of violence has left us feeling completely heartbroken.

Even so, we don’t want to give up—not for our amazing staff who have stood by us, nor for the customers who have shown us so much love. This bakery has been cherished by so many people in our community, and we are determined to keep it going, no matter what.

Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. It would help us get back on our feet and move forward. Please help us continue baking and sharing our cute and delicious bread with the community. We truly appreciate your support!

Kanadell Japanese BakeryはEast Vancouverにあるベーカリーカフェです。先日、私たちの大切なお店の窓ガラスが何者かによって割られてしまいました。

実は私たちの隣の店舗も数日前に同じように割られたばかりで、同一犯による犯行かどうかはわかりませんが、犯人は強盗に入るために割ったわけではなく、ただガラスを割ったようです。

犯行が深夜だったため、特に人的被害はありませんでしたが、私たちのお店の大きなフロントウィンドウが完全に破壊されました。

ただでさえ、今この経済が大変な中、私たちのお店も例にもれず非常に売り上げの低下と経費の上昇に苦しんでいます。

今冬の売り上げに関しては昨年に比べ概算22％も低下しており、そんな中でもなんとかできることをやり、可能な限り切り詰めて何とかお店を存続させてきました。

そんな時にこのような被害に会ってしまい、完全に青天の霹靂でした。今の私たちにはこの窓を直すだけの余力がありません。

一生懸命に守ってきた私たちのお店をこのような暴力で突然壊されてしまい、私たちは本当にやりきれない気持ちでいっぱいです。それでも、このお店を守ってきてくれたスタッフや愛してくれたお客様の為にも、まだあきらめたくはありません。

たくさんのお客様やコミュニティに愛されてきたこのお店を何とか継続させていきたいのです。
