Please support John Russo in rebuilding and returning home.

On Thursday, September 26th, Hurricane Helene swept away my Uncle John’s home, sheds and greenhouses in Lansing, North Carolina. He has lived on the North Fork New River for 25 years. For two days we did not have any contact with him. He moved his car to higher ground and slept in it, while helplessly watching the river carry away everything he owned. Uncle John, a veteran, is 87 years old. He has no flood insurance, and his home is gone. John loves the land, air and water in Lansing. To him, it is heaven on earth. He loves nature and has hiked the entire Appalachian Trail.
His land is entirely edible as he plants fruit trees and vegetables. Every year, aside from what he eats, he gives all of his produce to neighbors. He also helps the less fortunate in his area on a daily basis. He is dedicated to nature and to the community.
John is currently staying with family, and plans to return to his beloved land and river in the early Spring of 2025. Family members, including children, nephews and grandchildren plan to rebuild a small home for him in the Spring and will use the funds for building materials. If you are able, we would greatly appreciate any contributions for the raw materials needed to build a home. Any amount contributed will help John Russo to rebuild, return and recover. With a deep bow of gratitude and many blessings, we thank you.
