We are reaching out to humbly ask for support for a dear friend, Heather Ruane, although many may know her as Heather Lynch. Heather is facing an incredibly challenging time. She has shown remarkable strength through every obstacle life has brought her. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 24, she worked full time and, after becoming a single parent, raised her daughter. Despite her dedication to her health and her family, she developed diabetic neuropathy in her later 30’s, which affected both her arms and legs. After time this forced Heather to stop working and rely on permanent disability, making her financial situation even more difficult.

On July 8, 2025, Heather suffered an acute episode of diabetic ketoacidosis, which was followed by a heart attack. She was rushed to Newton Hospital and admitted to the ICU. The underlying cause is still unclear, but doctors suspect Lyme disease (tick-borne illness) may have played a role. In critical condition for a week, Heather slowly regained some strength and is still very much healing. Heather faces a long road to recovery, including the possibility of upcoming heart surgery. The aftermath of this health crisis has already brought mounting expenses—hospital and ambulance bills, transportation to medical appointments, prescriptions, and the ongoing costs of rent, utilities, and everyday living. Living on a fixed income, Heather is now facing overwhelming financial stress while trying to heal from this life-changing event.

Heather is deeply grateful to be alive and with her daughter, but the weight of these unexpected expenses is making it difficult for her to focus fully on healing. Your support will help cover her medical and household bills, provide transportation to doctor’s appointments, and—most importantly—give Heather the peace of mind she needs to concentrate on her recovery. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference in helping Heather and her daughter find stability and hope during this challenging time.
