Dear Family and Friends of Bayard and Gina.

Clinton Bayard Sheldon - October 18, 1954 to June 29, 2022
It is with the heaviest of hearts I write to let you know Bayard passed today at 5:03 p.m. His brother Peter and I were with him. It took us by surprise as there was no distress of any kind - he quietly and peacefully slipped away. We were told by the Hospice nurse earlier that he was declining, yet his heart was strong and she didn’t think he’d pass today. Those of us familiar with Bayard’s personality know he was very decisive, and we feel he chose his time to leave us. Over the past several days, so many people have sent or delivered in person messages of love, admiration, support and comfort - we truly believe he heard them all and knew it was safe to cross over, and that I was going to be okay.
The hole this leaves in our hearts is massive; let us fill it up with love, gratitude and kindness in his honor. Life goes on. It will never be the same without this fine man, however I know he would want us all to celebrate each day we practice the Golden Rule.
Obviously this is a deeply personal time for me, and our families. I know you will continue to offer support and prayers, and I will gratefully accept them. It may be some time before we have any formal plans for a celebration of Bayard’s life, but there will be one. And yes, friends, there will be PLENTY of wine.
