UPDATE: Please support for the McCord’s

UPDATE:
The surgery itself went well. Katjä dealt with infection, pneumonia and vertigo following but is on the mend. She was happy to be able to see a few clients in October.
After an exhausting day we can finally provide an update on the next steps. The pathology said that they removed the cancer in the procedure. DCIS isn’t common in Katja’s age category so they have recommended 16 radiation treatments (Monday to Friday). This will start next week and go to approximately December 9, 2024, which was a surprise to her and Chad. Katja will off work during this timeframe and sometime following, as well as she will staying in be in Regina during the week. If you are able to help them out financially during this time they would appreciate it. I know some of you prefer not to use gofundme so please feel free to e-transfer directly to [phone redacted].

The McCord’s moved to Esterhazy in 2016 with their three children and have been an active part of the community. Chad is now the Food Store Manager for Legacy Co-op in Churchbridge and Katjä runs Sole Much Better Foot Care out of Essentials Wellness Spa in Esterhazy. She provides the community and surrounding areas with nursing foot care, pedicures, manicures and Thai foot reflexology with massage.
Most of us have been in a situation where we’ve needed to ask for help. If you’ve been in this scenario, you can agree that it’s a difficult task. People don’t want to feel like they’re a burden when thinking of reaching out for support. This is where the McCord’s are right now.
The beginning of April, Katjä was diagnosed with pre-cancer of the breast. It came as a complete shock. As of now she and either myself or her husband, Chad, have been to Saskatoon four times with many more trips to come. She is currently waiting for her surgery date in Saskatoon. Once the pathology reports come back, following that surgery, she will be heading to Regina for radiation. She was advised to take four weeks off following her surgery which she is finding hard because she is thinking of her clients and how she can work around the time frame and their needs. Of course, her clients say her health is more important than their feet but the love she has for her job and her clients shines. Katja and Chad were told that radiation is a five days a week treatment which might be one week, three weeks or longer. During this time she will be staying at the Allan Blair Lodge in a Regina. She is unsure how long she will have to be away from work during this time. The one surgeon did suggest from start to finish that a 12 week leave would be ideal but for a small business owner this is almost impossible and this also doesn’t include the time that Chad would have to take off work to help care for her.
Katja has a great outlook on this diagnosis and doesn’t see it as a burden but a gift. She has enjoyed talking with her clients and them sharing their experiences or her sharing this process. Her love for God and faith has kept her at peace. Psalms 18:2, Deuteronomy 31:8, Psalms 23:4, Philippians 4:4-6
If you are able to help them in anyway, through prayer, financially, freezer meals etc they would be so appreciative.
Financially: One trip to Saskatoon is approximately $500; Allan Blair Lodge will be $40/night; Cost of house payments, business wage loss etc over the 12 weeks is approximately $11000.
