Support Fernando to Represent Canada Internationally 2025

After earning Gold at the Canadian National Championships for the third year in a row, I've been selected to represent Canada at the Pan-American Championships in Mexico this upcoming May 22nd-24th. In preparation, I also recently attended the USA Open Championships in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately, Canada has very limited financial support for karate athletes. As such, I pay for all expenses on my own. In other words, every single competition I participate in, including the National Championships, all expenses are paid 100% out of my own pocket.

Last year, although I had #1 status in Canada and was selected to represent Canada at the Pan-American Championships, I could not attend due to financial barriers.

It is extremely challenging to represent Canada internationally on my own, so any contribution no matter how small is deeply appreciated.

For every donation of $100, I am pleased to offer a private session led by myself. You can choose from a variety of options, including karate, self-defense, or fitness training.

This year I am working hard to qualify for the Senior World Championships (takes place every 2 years). My two opportunities to qualify are at the Pan-American Championships and a qualification tournament in Paris later this year. To prepare it is required that I compete in other international competitions.

Funds raised will go toward paying for costs associated with competition which include plane tickets, travel insurance, accommodation, food, registration fees, and national team fees.

I fight for my dream of reaching the top of my sport not only for myself but also for my country, my community and for all the people in my life who have helped me become a better person. Most importantly, I want to inspire the next generation of athletes in Canada to believe that even when faced with tremendous obstacles, it's possible to reach your dreams and make a positive impact on the people around you.
