Hi my name is Ellen and I am reaching out to share the inspiring story of my best friends daughter Evie. In February 2025, Evie received the devastating diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma, plunging her into a challenging battle with stage 4 cancer at just 15 years old. From that moment on, Evie, her loving parents Hayley and Jonathan searcy along with her family have faced unimaginable hardships.
Evie's cancer journey has been filled with gruelling treatments, including chemotherapy that led to neuropathy, a painful and debilitating condition that once made her fear she may never walk again. Despite enduring four blood transfusions, infections, emergency surgery, and countless scans, Evie has shown remarkable resilience and strength in the face of this cruel disease.
Throughout this traumatic time, Evie has missed out on so much that a teenager should cherish - education, time with friends, holidays - and has grappled with lost self-confidence and heightened anxiety. As she braces herself to begin her GCSEs this year, we are rallying support to provide her with the private tuition she needs to catch up on her studies and regain her confidence, especially after losing her beautiful long hair. Also hopefully fund for an A1 robot that would takes Evie’s place in school when she is not able to attend, allowing Evie to still attend school from with home or the hospital.
Additionally, Evie requires extensive physiotherapy to navigate the challenges of walking and fine motor skills due to neuropathy. To create a more comfortable and conducive environment for her recovery and daily life, Evie dreams of having her bedroom professionally designed with a desk, electric bed, and storage space where she can focus on her studies and indulge in her creative passions such as painting, Lego building, crocheting, and more. These activities not only benefit Evie's mental health but also aid in her physical rehabilitation.
Furthermore, to support Evie's physical well-being and mental health, she would greatly benefit from having exercise equipment at home and if funds allow also a hydrotherapy pool. Due to mobility issues and weight gain from steroids, as well as a decline in her mental well-being, Evie finds it challenging to engage in physical activities outside the home, such as going to the gym.
Incredibly, despite facing her own struggles, Evie is also fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust, an organisation that has supported her immensely during her own battle with cancer. She plans to organise a "crazy hair day" at school to raise funds for this meaningful cause, exemplifying her selflessness and determination to give back.
Your generosity and support can make a profound impact on Evie's life. By contributing to this fundraiser, you will not only help provide Evie with the education, therapy, and comfort she needs to thrive but also empower her to continue supporting others through her fundraising efforts.
Thank you for considering Evie's story and for being a beacon of hope in her journey. Your kindness and compassion will help Evie navigate through this challenging time with strength and dignity.
Please share Evie's story and fundraiser to spread awareness and support for her cause. Together, we can make a positive difference in Evie's life and help her shine brightly once again.
Thank you for your support. Let's stand together for Evie!
UPDATE thank you so much to everyone who has donated & shared it is very much appreciated xxWe are over the moon to share the incredible news that Evie has officially rung the bell, symbolising the end of her cancer treatment! This milestone is a testament to her strength, resilience, and the unwavering support from all of you. We couldn’t be more grateful for your encouragement and generosity throughout this challenging journey.
However, we are reaching out with heavy hearts to inform you that Evie is facing new challenges. The harsh effects of chemotherapy have led to the development of a blood clot on her heart, which has not shown signs of reduction. Doctors are monitoring her closely, and there is a possibility that she may require open heart surgery to remove the clot. Additionally, she has developed a clot in her lung, which is further impacting her health.
Evie has a long road ahead in her recovery, but we are committed to ensuring she has everything she needs to navigate this difficult time. Your continued support means the world to us and will help provide Evie with the care and resources essential for her recovery.
Thank you for standing by Evie and our family during this journey. We appreciate each and every one of you, and we will keep you updated on her progress. Xx
