Hello there! My name is Ebony Hicks (she/her). I have my BA in Theater and have a passion for theater and all of the performing arts, education, and advocacy and representation for all groups, and I am raising funds to repay my former employment company so that I can move forward with my career journey. I moved to Richmond, VA alone just last July for this job and had signed a contract that was meant to keep me locked in for a full year. The moment my mental health started taking hits, I started questioning if that job was for me and when I began entering really dark places mentally, I knew I had to get out and deal with the consequences of my actions. Here I am now 6 months later, unemployed, and remembering that I am more than a number and a screw in the machine of corporate America. There isn't much I am legally allowed to say about this company and that's ok because I am trying to move forward. I am seeking legal aid to see what can be done about negotiating the amount down to something more reasonable but as of right now this is where it stands. Like I mentioned earlier, I am currently unemployed and they are expecting this large amount of money from me in a very short time frame so I apologize for having to be so vague and I trust the powers that be, that the right people will find me, and I thank you in advance for your help.
